Nascido em 23 de dezembro de 1966 na Costa do Marfim, viveu por mais de vinte anos no Brasil, terra que escolheu como sua e onde desenvolveu suas pesquisas na área do cinema e do audiovisual, com foco nos cinemas africanos e da diáspora. Entre 2009 e 2015 foi professor adjunto da Faculdade de Comunicação da Universidade Federal da Bahia, período em que orientou diversas pesquisas e fez parte da coordenação do Grupo de Pesquisa em Recepção e Crítica da Imagem (GRIM) e do Laboratório de Análise Fílmica (LAF).

Mahomed Bamba faleceu aos 48 anos, no dia 16 de novembro de 2015, no Brasil, na cidade do Salvador/BA, vítima de uma infecção generalizada. Este site é uma tentativa de reunir este material para facilitar a consulta da produção bibliográfica de Bamba, além de compilar todas as homenagens feitas a ele desde o seu falecimento. Esperamos que, com isso, a memória de Mahomed Bamba seja sempre mantida e o legado das suas pesquisas ainda possa orientar muitos estudiosos dos cinemas africanos e da diáspora.
